Recent photos

Hi again....more pictures from this summer. Shannon had a total of 6 volunteers fly in to help her with her research. See pictures of their hikes to nesting beaches. Rowan had the opportunity to go out in the field one night. On that very first night, a turtle nested! We attached a radio transmitter on her. Shannon and her friend, Julia, who was also here to help for 2 weeks did a night dive with a 13 foot (wingspan) Manta Ray named "Lefty". She swam over our heads numerous times - it was amazing! As much as Shannon fears big things in the water, Lefty wasn't too bad. It's a start.

It's Sept already!

Hi Folks,

Been awhile since we've posted pictures. Our house is coming along very nicely. We absolutely love it. Of course there is always things to do. We've made a bathroom hutch and the kitchen pantry is almost complete. We've built our shelves but we haven't decided on the paint color. We have wood to make our own closet and desks! We got our couch today!

Sea turtle monitoring

My crew (Jennifer, Erica, and two teachers on a short term basis) and I have been working out in the field for my research. Right now, we're on Maui for 2 weeks waiting for two turtles. Basically, we sit on the beach from 8 pm to 5 am patrolling the beach every 1 or 2 hours waiting for only 1 female! She hasn't shown up yet and it's been 8 nights! The second turtle is expected between Thursday and Sunday so we should have some excitement soon.

Hi folks...Ro and I have been extremely busy this summer and haven't been able to keep up with this blog. Our apologies. We're now living in the house - it's been amazing! All that hard work is starting to pay off. See pictures....
