Happy Spring Equinox!!

Wow, we have been having a lot of rain, averaging 2 inches a day!!! But, this morning we woke up to a beautiful sun, and I can hear everyone outside doing yard work, house work, walking, playing, dogs barking...the sounds of spring. We are told it will not last, that we have about 3 more weeks of rain, but it will be getting warmer. Here is a picture of Mauna Loa down the street from our land, with lots of snow, it has not been visable recently from all the rain.
And, here we are with the first house stake! Our friends, Bill and Casey, came out this morning to see our land.
Today we are heading into Hilo to turn in our land plot to the draftsman. It took awhile to find where the house will be and we actually had to call the draftsman and invert the house...completely switched around to make sure we catch the sun in the right parts of the house, and not the rain! We should get the final draft this week.
Other news, Shannon and I have both been accepted for school in the fall, and are excited. How we will manage full time school, work, and building a house, we shall see. In April my parents and Shannons grandmother will be coming to visit!!

Home Sweet Home

Here is our new land! We closed two weeks ago and started working this weekend. Wow, it is intimidating, but feels great to start the process of creating a home. There are 3 beautiful old Ohia trees and tons of Hapuu ferns. Now we are trying to figure out where to build our house. It is hard to decide which trees and plants to cut down and which to live. But, we will be transplanting as much as possible and cutting just what we need. Otherwise we are working again, odd jobs with our business, searching for a good draftsman, and settling into our cozy new home for the next few years
